Co-designed by Jack Nicklaus and his son Steve, the Mountain Course at Bear Mountain is set in the foothills of Mount Finlayson and strikes the perfect balance between playability and a truly challenging year round golf experience for golfers of all skill levels.
With panoramic mountain, city and ocean views set within rolling fairways and lush forest, rest assured - you will be back for more.
The Valley Course meanders through forest, borders lakes, and traverses creeks throughout its 18 holes, while offering spectacular views of Vancouver Island's beautiful landscape.
In contrast to the existing Mountain Course, the par 71 Valley Course measures 6807 yards from the Golden Bear tees - around 400 yards shorter than its sibling. Factor in elevated tee boxes, more generous fairway widths, fewer bunkers and larger greens and the Valley course will likely be considered a 'friendlier' version of the original.
Ideally located on Victoria’s spectacular Inner Harbour, next door to the Parliament Buildings and across the street from the US Ferry terminals.

The Jack and Steve Nicklaus co-designed Mountain Course, an 18-hole beauty that is the first Jack and Steve Nicklaus co-designed course on Vancouver Island. The Mountain Course is a masterpiece, offering challenging terrain and spectacular natural beauty. A par 70 playing at 6,900 yards, the course takes full advantage of its setting atop a 1,100-foot mountain, exhibiting dramatic elevation changes and aweinspiring views. The course has been assigned a slope rating of 142 from the back Golden tees, making it one of the most inspiring courses in North America. From the Golden tees stretching out to 6,900 yards while from the Spirit tees it plays 5,500 and the Cinnamon just 4,800.
The 18-hole, par-71 Nicklaus Design Valley Course measures just under 7,000 yards from the Championship set of tees. The first 9-holes opened for play in August 2008, while the full 18 holes opened in April of 2009. Playing at a lower elevation than the Mountain Course, alternating between 300 and 400 feet above sea level, compared to the 1100 feet that the Mountain Course rises to at its peak, together, the Mountain and Valley courses are the only 36-hole Nicklaus Design golf offering in Canada. The Valley Course is very popular with the Members of Bear Mountain as the terrain is slightly flatter
